It looks like My Chemical Romance fan speculation regarding the mysterious video posted late last week created such a buzz – the Facebook post received 14 million views and 268,229 shares; and the tweet was retweeted 51,000 times and liked 83,000* – that it lead to the band (or band representative, whoever handles their social media, anyway) revealing that there are only plans for a 10th anniversary release of The Black Parade. Here’s the statement issued:

“We’ve been really touched and blown away by the response to the teaser trailer. We are not touring and there is no reunion planned – only a release for the anniversary of The Black Parade.

Thanks so much for continuing to keep MCR in your minds and in your hearts.”

While I’m sure there are many out there disappointed by this revelation, I don’t think all hope is lost for a reunion tour. If anything, I think the overwhelming response will probably get them thinking about putting together an anniversary tour. Two reasons I see this as a possibility are: the fans and money. If it were me, I would definitely consider doing a tour for the fans; they are the reason you got to where you did, you know? I don’t think I need to explain why money would be a reason to make this thing happen. Who knows, maybe that statement is a troll to calm people down and when the actually date arrives it will include an, “after some serious talks we’ve also decided to give you guys an anniversary tour!” statement. Your hope doesn’t have to die just yet, but brace yourself for disappointment. Just in case.
