Destruction Of A King took to their blog to make a lengthy announcement regarding the status of the band. In it, they revealed that they will now be called DOAK and have a new, self-titled album coming out on March 31st. You can read their complete statement below and also check out the cover art for the new record.

It’s the first day of the 2015 year and we are recovering from the night before. A lot of people have been asking what’s been going on with DOAK and sadly, we were wondering ourselves. We haven’t released an official album since the summer of 2011 and that was completely on us. We hit the studio with Andrew Glover at Sound Temple Studios and put out some singles here and there, but no official record. Why? If we had a dollar for every time someone asked why we haven’t put out an album we’d be filthy rich. Honestly, we never had a 100% reason as to why we’ve been laying low, playing seldom shows and touring even less. We had plans on releasing “the album” every year, but something always happened whether it was money, personal member issues, or just life getting in the way. We lost our trailer and van on our last tour with Winds of Plague, Impending Doom, and No Bragging Rights, leaving us feeling discouraged too. We got together as a band these last couple of months and really asked ourselves what are we trying to do. After hours of talking we decided that Destruction of A King needs a fresh start, not a break up, just something to get that spark again. So here we are on the first day of 2015 announcing that we will now be known as DOAK instead of Destruction of A King. This minor change was just a small piece for us to get the ball rolling. We also wanted to give our fans what they wanted as far as merchandise, so we began to market and produce our clothing differently. We decided to produce clothing items that we would wear personally. We got over trying to copy every band just like everyone else. If you’re wearing our merchandise we want it to look like more than just a band tee, we want to give you quality. Another bigger part of all this relief was buying a new tour van. We call her The 1989 being that she is a 1989 Dodge 15 passenger van. She runs like a champ and recently got us to San Antonio and back. New van means new tours. Lastly, we are proud to announce that we will be releasing a brand new self-titled record officially on March 31, 2015. We couldn’t be more happy to finally announce all of this and we know our fans have been BEYOND patient. We thank you for that patience from the bottom of our hearts. DOAK is ready for 2015, are you?
